The Saints had plenty of chances to win the game against Hagerstown but continued to make mistakes and gave the game away.
Hagerstown scored four runs in the first inning off Saints starter Justine Dean. Mercyhurst rallied with a few runs over the next couple of innings. Alyssa Johnston had two doubles to drive home the first two runs for the Saints. Dean would later add a home run to put the Saints ahead.
The Saints were up 7-5 in the bottom of the sixth but allowed three runs to fall behind. In the seventh, the Saints had runners on 2nd and 3rd with nobody out when Dean hit a ball off the fence but only one of the runs would score after a base running mistake.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Saints had a chance to win the game with two outs but a fly ball was allowed to fall and HCC tied the game.
After the Saints failed to score in the eighth, a wild pitch and a bases loaded walk gave Hagerstown the win.
Dean led the Saints offense with three hits, while Johnston had the two doubles. Riplee Burkhart and Tori Harding both added two hits each in defeat. Dean was also tagged with the loss for the Saints.
